Kansas State Target Clifford Omoruyi Commits to Alabama

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament East Regional-Florida Atlantic vs Kansas State

While Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats made the final cutdown list for Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi, the senior big man ended the possibility of a K-State commitment on Sunday.

Omoruyi chose the Alabama Crimson Tide over Kansas State, North Carolina, and Georgetown, ending one of the longest recruitment processes of the 2023-24 offseason.

Clifford Omoruyi generated interest from a number of teams in the transfer portal this offseason after posting some incredible numbers during his senior season. The senior center averaged nearly a double-double, with 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in his fourth season of college basketball.

While the loss is certainly disappointing for Wildcats fans, Jerome Tang and company have been incredibly active through the transfer portal up to this point, adding four different impact players. Kansas State earned commitments from Michigan’s Dug McDaniel, UIC’s CJ Jones, Villanova’s Brendan Hausen, and Arkansas’ Baye Fall.

As the team continues to trudge through the offseason, Kansas State fans have a reason to feel optimistic with a big-name forward planning a visit to Manhattan in the near future. UCNW transfer forward Trazarien White announced his plans to visit Kansas State on May 12th-14th, which would be a major addition to Jerome Tang’s roster.

Despite Kansas State missing out on Clifford Omoruyi, based on how fast the team has navigated the transfer portal in setting up visits over the last month, Wildcats fans will likely have a new name to marvel at in the coming weeks.
