Texas Tech football will be without top wide receiver Josh Kelly for the 2024 Liberty Bowl against Arkansas, according to a team spokesman.
Kelly was fresh off one of his best games of his Texas Tech career when he racked up nine catches for 150 yards and zero touchdowns. He also had his longest catch of the season in a 52-15 win over Colorado with a 41-yarder.
Kelly caught 89 passes for 1,023 yards and five touchdowns this season, earning second-team all-Big 12 recognition from the conference’s head coaches. He’s eighth in the FBS in catches and one of 20 FBS receivers who have reached 1,000 yards this season.
Kelly’s backup redshirt freshman Kelby Valsin, who played in 11 games but only has one catch for five yards.

This is the second huge offensive piece out for the Red Raiders, as quarterback Behren Morton is also set to miss the game after undergoing surgery last week on his throwing shoulder. Morton was 10th in the FBS with 3,335 passing yards per game. True freshman Will Hammond will start for the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech takes on Arkansas on December 27th at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee. Kick off is set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
