While it’s no secret that Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt is one of the nation’s brightest young stars, his confidence continues to make headlines.
Leavitt spoke about his matchup with Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers in the Peach Bowl, saying, “I’m gonna go prove why I’m the better quarterback.”
“Yeah, I’ve watched him for a fair amount of time now,” Leavitt said about Ewers. “I’m just excited for the opportunity. People have kept counting me out since Day One, and I’m going to prove why I’m the better quarterback. That’s how I feel since Day One. I’m gonna go put everybody on the map.”
Leavitt’s confidence is something that Big 12 fans have quickly come to love during Arizona State’s playoff run. The duo of Sam Leavitt and Cam Skattebo have continued to prove doubters wrong, and ahead of Wednesday’s game, the blank native appears to be incredibly locked in on the task at hand.
When asked about the early success of his son back in November, Leavitt’s father, Jared, noted, “He 100% believed this would happen. He had already decided that before he ever came to campus, that was going to happen. Before he came, he already knew he was going to win the job. He already expects to be the very best in the country and be a first-round draft pick.”
While the Texas Longhorns may have something to say about his comments on the football field, the next chapter in Leavitt’s career will take place in the Peach Bowl with his plan to prove himself as the best quarterback in the matchup.
