The season was a mess, and now Lagway’s looking for a fresh start.
That’s where Baylor comes in. There’s already a natural connection as Lagway’s dad played in Waco, and the Bears were one of the top schools in the mix during his original recruitment. The fit is obvious. Baylor needs a spark offensively, and Lagway needs a spot where he can start fresh, close to home, and in a system that won’t hold him back. It’s not just fan wish-casting, either. Multiple reports have mentioned Baylor as a real contender, and the interest looks mutual.
Of course, LSU and Miami aren’t just window dressing here. LSU’s always dangerous in the portal, especially when it comes to quarterbacks. The SEC appeal, Lane Kiffin, and the shot to compete right away make Baton Rouge a legit option. Miami’s in a similar spot. The Canes are in the midst of a College Football Playoff run and have revived Carson Beck’s career.
But make no mistake, if Baylor wants to shake up their 2026 outlook, landing Lagway would be the move. This isn’t some longshot flyer. This is a top-tier QB who’s from the state, knows the program, and could be sold on a full-circle comeback story.
