Collin Klein and the Kansas State Wildcats just added the biggest piece of the offseason so far with the commitment of Missouri wide receiver Joshua Manning.
Manning, a 6-foot-2 junior from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has spent the last three seasons in Columbia with the Missouri Tigers, but is electing to make the move to Manhattan, Kansas, for his final year of eligibility.
Interestingly enough, the Missouri native was nearly a Wildcat heading into National Signing Day, but elected to flip his commitment elsewhere the day of. He now heads to K-State to team up with Avery Johnson in Collin Klein’s offense, and will be expected to fill a big role with Jayce Brown out the door to LSU.
Coming out of Lee’s Summit High School in the Class of 2023, Manning was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 271st-ranked player. He also checked in as the 37th-ranked receiver in the country and the seventh-ranked player in the state of Missouri. Flash forward three seasons, and he’s listed as the 218th-ranked player available in the portal and the 49th-ranked receiver.
Throughout his three seasons at Missouri, Manning recorded a total of 42 grabs for 510 yards and three scores. He played sparingly in his early career with the Tigers and will have just one year of eligibility remaining. He is the second transfer from Missouri to join Kansas State this offseason, alongside offensive lineman Keaton Jones.
