UPDATE: Iowa State announced that Jaheim Singletary was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center following the injury. He has movement in his extremities and continues to be evaluated.
Iowa State defensive back Jaheim Singletary was carted off the field following a scary collision during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Bowling Green.
The play occurred with 3:58 remaining in the opening quarter at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.
Here’s what it looked like.
Singletary collided with Iowa State teammate Willie Breland while the Cyclones were attempting to make a tackle. Singletary remained down on the field following the play as Iowa State’s medical staff came out to evaluate him.
After being attended to on the field, Singletary was eventually placed on a cart and taken off the field.
Following the game, Iowa State announced that Singletary had been taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center. The school said he has movement in his extremities and is continuing to be evaluated.
The redshirt senior cornerback is in his first season with the Cyclones after transferring from Arkansas during the offseason. Singletary spent the previous three seasons with the Razorbacks, appearing in 29 games and making 12 starts while recording 54 tackles, one interception and seven pass breakups.
The former highly-rated recruit originally began his college career at Georgia in 2022 before transferring to Arkansas.
Singletary’s injury comes as Iowa State wraps up non-conference play before beginning its Big 12 schedule next weekend against Utah.
The Cyclones entered Saturday’s game against Bowling Green at 1-1 following a 16-13 loss to No. 21 Iowa last weekend.
