Shaka Smart Trends on Twitter Following Blowout Loss to West Virginia

Trending on Twitter can be very good or very bad. In the case of Texas head men’s basketball coach Shaka Smart, it’s currently very bad. The Longhorns were blown out at West Virginia 97-59.
With the loss, the Longhorns are 2-4 in Big 12 play and 12-6 overall and after the defeat, Shaka Smart was getting hammered on social media. Smart entered the season on thin ice and likely needs to turn it around quickly.
Here’s some of the reaction.
Final in Morgantown: No. 14 WVU 97, Texas 59. Horns suffer their biggest loss as a Big 12 school, biggest loss in Shaka's 5 seasons. This changes the dynamics going forward.

Are we watching Shaka Smart’s final game coached at Texas right now?

Remember when Shaka Smart was the hottest name in basketball? His Texas team trails by 25 at half in year 5. He’s 8 games below .500 in conference play during his 5 years. No such thing as a slam dunk hire.

I feel a need to send Shaka Smart an apology letter for causing the loss of his job.

Just a reminder: Texas fired Rick Barnes for not making it out of the 1st weekend of the NCAA tournament. He missed 1 NCAA tournament in his 17 years.

Shaka Smart is on track to miss it for a 3rd time out of his 5 years, and hasn’t won 1 game at Texas in the NCAA tournament.
This has to be the worst performance of the Shaka Smart era.

Shaka Smart's inability to make Texas relevant in the Big 12 is stunning given his VCU track record.

Three top 30 KenPom seasons and another that resulted in a Final Four run at VCU. On his way to a fourth straight sub-.500 conference finish at Texas.
With the resources that Texas has and the recruiting I thought Shaka Smart could do, UT seemed like a good fit for him. It hasn’t been. Horns fall by 38 to WVU. It’s hard to see Smart surviving past the season in Austin.

This feels like Shaka's 66-3 UCLA moment.

Wouldn’t mind it. Haven’t been more wrong about anything than Shaka Smart. Thought that was a HOME RUN! 🤦♂️ https://t.co/aRoMKqLFPJ

How long is Shaka Smart gonna last at Texas ??? West Virginia is up on the Horns 71-34 in the second half. Horns will drop to 2-4 in Big 12 .
