Two Jayhawks to Miss Spring Football with Injuries
While the Kansas Jayhawks have been attacking spring football with a cast of new players and coaches on their roster, two Jayhawks will be sidelined for the remainder of spring football.
Kansas head coach Lance Leipold provided an update on the status of both freshman lineman Calvin Clements and senior wide receiver Lawrence Arnold and mentioned that both will miss time with injuries.
Freshman offensive lineman Calvin Clements joined the Jayhawks in the Class of 2023 and has quietly become a name to watch in Kansas’ camp. The hometown hero stands a staggering 6 feet 7 inches and weighs 310 pounds. After losing multiple NFL prospects on the Jayhawks’ offensive line, Clements became a name to watch as a player who could slide into the starting lineup in his second year with the program.
Arnold, a name that should be very familiar to both fans of the Jayhawks and of Big 12 football, is coming off back-to-back impressive seasons for Kansas. The senior wideout posted 44 catches for 782 yards and six receiving touchdowns in 2023. Arnold finished his senior campaign in a massive way with an incredible stat line in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl vs. UNLV. The Texas native brought in six catches for 132 yards and three scores in the Jayhawks 49-36 win.
While both players should have a solid chunk of time to heal from their injuries, setbacks in spring football are always an interesting topic to monitor. Kansas kicks off their 2024 season on Thursday, August 29th, against Lindenwood.
