With a dominant 65‑26 lead late in the game, the Cowgirls forced a steal, pushed it in for a layup, and put the scoreboard at 67. That triggered coach Jacie Hoyt to call a timeout while the arena erupted. Players, coaches, and fans. All doing the viral “six seven” thing and yelling it at the top of their lungs.
If you haven’t seen the “6-7” thing floating around online, ask any middle schooler. It’s all over TikTok and X, a trend that doesn’t really have a point but lives in the heads of every kid under the age of 14. Somehow, hitting 67 has become a celebration in itself, and Oklahoma State leaned all the way into it.
The timing couldn’t have been better. With the building full of kids and the team in complete control, the Cowgirls turned a random number into a shared moment that probably made a lot of young fans decide they’re sticking with this team for good. And to Hoyt’s credit, she didn’t just let it happen. She made sure it got its moment.
This wasn’t some stunt or social media setup. The players were all in. The coaches were all in. The crowd? Loud as hell. Oklahoma State took a throwaway number and turned it into a celebration of what makes college sports great, connecting with fans, leaning into fun, and turning regular-season games into something more.
Gallagher-Iba has seen a lot of moments, and this was certainly one of them. It may not make sense, and even still doesn’t as I write this, but for what it’s worth, that was a pretty cool thing to see the Cowgirls do.
