Young Washington State Fan Runs Onto Field During Kansas State Weather Delay

Kansas State Patch Purple Wave Auction

The Kansas State-Washington State game had to wait out a weather delay on Saturday, but apparently one young Cougars fan had seen enough waiting around.

During the delay, which came at halftime as K-State was leading 17-10, a young Washington State fan made his way onto the field and took off running, providing some unexpected entertainment for those who remained inside the stadium.

Greg Woods of The Spokesman-Review captured video of the fan making his run across the field as stadium personnel appeared to give chase.

The moment quickly made the rounds on social media as fans waited for the Big 12-Pac-12 matchup to get underway.

For Kansas State, the delay only added another wrinkle to an important early-season non-conference matchup. The Wildcats entered Saturday looking to improve to 2-0, while Washington State had an opportunity to bounce back from a Week 1 loss vs. Washington.

Weather delays are nothing new in college football, especially during the opening weeks of the season, but it’s not every Saturday that a young fan decides to use the downtime to get some playing time of his own.

Fortunately, the incident appeared to provide more amusement than anything else as both teams waited for conditions to improve.
