On Monday morning, Willie Fritz and the Houston Cougars lost a talented member of the wide receiver room to the transfer portal.
That player is junior wideout Joseph Manjack IV, who led the Cougars in touchdowns and finished second in receiving yards.
“I am entering the Transfer Portal with 1 year of eligibility remaining,” Manjack said on X. “Thankful to everyone I have met over the last 3 years, and I will forever cherish the memories I made here at the University of Houston!”
During his three-year career with the program, Manjack posted some solid numbers. He recorded 83 grabs for 1,086 yards and ten scores. The Texas native initially started his career at USC, where he spent one season before transferring.
Coming out of Memorial High School in the Class of 2021, Manjack was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 692nd-ranked player. He also checked in as the 52nd-ranked player at his position and the 55th-ranked player in the state of Texas.
With his decision to enter the portal, Manjack became the seventh Cougar to depart the program this offseason. While the departure is a large one for Willie Fritz and company, the group should have plenty of options to pursue in the transfer portal, with this year’s class on pace to have a record number of portal entries nationwide.
