Social Media Destroys UCF Over Failed Two-Point Attempt vs. OU

While the UCF Knights entered Saturday morning’s matchup against Oklahoma as 18.5-point underdogs, Gus Malzahn and the Knights found their way back into the game late and lined up for a two-point try to tie the game up with 1:16 to go.

Malzahn elected to run a double pass play that was somewhat gimmicky and ultimately failed giving the football back to Oklahoma with a two-point lead. While the game was closer than most fans expected it to be with UCF putting up a good fight against the sixth-ranked team in the country, social media wasn’t taking any moral victories and let the coaching staff hear it following the loss.

Here are some of the best reactions from the game.

For context, here is the viral two-point attempt.

John Rhys Plumlee led the Knights down the field on a nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive with Javon Baker scoring his second touchdown of the afternoon, but when it came down to crunch time, UCF made a bad decision with their playcalling.

While life seems pretty rough in Orlando following the tough outcome of Saturday’s contest, at least UCF fans can appreciate the fact that they are joined in their suffering by Penn State who ran and failed, the exact same play on a two-point conversion.

Don’t worry UCF fans, things will get better for you soon. Unfortunately for today, the Knights wound up on the short end of the stick with some unhappy fans vocalizing their thoughts.

UCF takes the field next in Week 9 on Saturday, October 28th, against the West Virginia Mountaineers following their contest with Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
