With reports on Thursday morning that John Harbaugh has agreed in principle to be the next head coach of the New York Giants, it looks like an old Big 12 face could be joining Harbaugh in New York. Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator Todd Monken is expected to be the leader to become the Giants offensive coordinator and take the reins of the offense led by quarterback Jaxson Dart and former All-Big 12 running back Cam Skattebo.

Todd Monken’s Coaching History
Monken first came to Oklahoma State in 2002 when he spent three seasons as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. Then after a stint at LSU, he made his first jump to the NFL, where he spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the wide receivers coach from 2007 to 2010. That was followed with a return to Oklahoma State in 2011 and 2012, where Monken tutored Justin Blackmon into one of the best receivers in college football.
Monken then became the head coach at Southern Miss for three seasons, before heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be their offensive coordinator for one year, and then spent the 2019 season in the same role with the Cleveland Browns.
Monken returned to college to run the Georgia Bulldogs offense and won two national championships in 2021 and 2022. After that, came his most recent jump back to the NFL to become the offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, a role he has held for the last three seasons prior to John Harbaugh’s departure earlier this month.
If Monken ends up with the Giants, he will be getting to run one of the youngest, and potentially most explosive, offenses in the NFL with a ton of upside.
