Lincoln Riley is Betting Favorite to be Next Atlanta Falcons Coach

NCAA Football: Big 12 Championship-Baylor vs Oklahoma

It only took to the middle of October for Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley to come up as a name to take an NFL head coaching job.

After the Atlanta Falcons fired Dan Quinn earlier this week, sportsbooks are now placing odds on who will be the next head coach of the team.

Well, according to SportsBetting.AG, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley is the front runner with 3/1 odds to be the next head coach in Atlanta.

Others on the list include: Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy at 4-1, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels at 11-2, Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich at 7-1, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh at 15-2, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney at 8-1 and Alabama head coach Nick Saban at 25-1.

For Riley and OU fans, this is nothing new.

Just last year, Lincoln Riley was tied to the head coaching job of the Dallas Cowboys, plus the Cleveland Browns.

Thanks to his offense, youth, and success producing Heisman winners, Riley is a hot name on the coaching market, but he has continued to maintain his loyalty to OU and that he has unfinished business, as the Sooners have reached the College Football Playoff, but have yet to win a game and have a chance at a National Championship.

Granted that is not likely to happen this year, as the Sooners, who are coming off a win over the Texas Longhorns, are 2-2 on the season during what some might consider, by OU standards, a rebuilding season. That being said, OU still has the best odds in the Big 12 to win the conference this season.

But still, Riley has not shown an appetite, at this point in his career, to become an NFL head coach.

And OU fans like it just that way.
