247Sports Names Marvin Mims No. 5 WR in 2021

NCAA Football: Missouri State at Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners always have one of the top wide receivers in the country and 2021 is no different. Marvin Mims is widely considered not just OU’s top target for next season, but also one of the most explosive wide receivers in the country and 247Sports recently took notice in its list of the top wide receivers heading into next season.

Mims was listed at No. 5 on the list, with 247Sports writing:

Mims was a freshman last season for the Sooners, making 37 receptions for 610 yards (16.5 yards per catch) with nine touchdowns. He was also a punt returner for Oklahoma, taking back 13 returns for a total of 162 yards (12.5 yards per return). Prior to his time at Oklahoma, Mims was a 247Sports Composite four-star recruit out of Frisco, Texas. He was also the No. 29 ranked wideout in the recruiting class of 2020.

“The 5-foot-11 and 177-pound receiver showed quality body adjustment and speed while routinely getting open downfield,” Treash wrote. “Despite seeing only 49 targets, Mims was able to bring down 11 deep receptions in 2020 (tied for the fourth-most in the Power Five). His stock is on the rise for 2021.”

Mims was ranked behind Ohio State wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, Clemson’s Justyn Ross and Treylon Burks. And rounding out the Top 10 behind Mims were Jaquarii Roberson from Wake Forest, Boise State’s Khalil Shakir, Purdue’s David Bell, Indiana’s Ty Fryfogle, and John Metchie III from Alabama.
