The list of the highest paid coaches for the 2022 college football season is out and according to 247 Sports, the name at the top of the list is one familiar to Big 12 fans.
Former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley, now the head coach of USC, is projected to be the highest paid college football coach in 2022.
Riley’s contract is reportedly worth around $110 million, although exact details are unknown since USC is a private university. The contract is also said to have included additional perks including a new house and use of a private jet, according to Sooners insider Robert Hefner V.
The former Big 12 Coach of the Year was with Oklahoma since 2017. During that time, he won four Big 12 championships and made the College Football Playoffs three times, going 0-3.
Riley made $7.6 million with the Sooners in 2021, which made him the highest paid coach in the Big 12. Now he is projected to be the highest paid in the nation, ahead of Alabama’s Nick Saban.
